FAQs

Who is the Organic Acids Test for?
Anyone who:

  • wants to a comprehensive overview of their metabolic health
  • is keen to identify which steps of which pathways call for action in THEIR case
  • has previously taken functional lab testing without actionable, clear and wants both the data AND tailored insights

Why do you ask for Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurements?

Because HRV directly and reliably tells us whether your system is mobilized or demobilized (or somewhere inbetween). In other words, it tells us how it is using its resources (crucially, how much investment is being permitted into digestion and how much load is being placed on different areas of the metabolism). This gives us context and meaning to the markers (ie. which markers are downstream consequences of the way resources are being invested and which are due to dysfunction) and means you finally get insights that have a fair chance of actually working for you.

Taking these measurements is simple and requires only a few minutes. Even if you do not have a wearable device (like an Oura ring), this can be easily measured using any smartphone.

What preparation is required for this test?

Prior to the test, the lab recommends:

  • 4 Days Before Collection

    • Stop all non-essential medications, vitamin and mineral supplements, and nutrient-fortified foods and beverages unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider

    • Avoid artificial sweeteners (e.g., aspartame, sucralose, stevia), MSG, and alcoholic beverages

    • Continue essential medications (such as thyroid and hormone medications) unless told otherwise by your doctor

  • 24 Hours Before Collection

    • Eat your usual diet, but avoid over-consuming any single food or following an extreme diet

    • Limit fluid intake to no more than six to eight 8-ounce glasses (about 1.5–2 liters) over 24 hours

    • Avoid seafood

How to return the sample?

After collection, freeze urine samples ahead of shipping (instructions included, together with container and shipping label).
